About this tool
What is a slug?
A URL- and filename-safe version of a title: lowercase, spaces to hyphens, special characters stripped or transliterated. “Café au lait!” becomes cafe-au-lait — readable, shareable, SEO-friendly.
How to use it
- Paste titles to get slugs instantly, in bulk if needed.
- Preview transliteration of accented characters.
- Copy straight into CMS slugs, filenames or anchors.
Examples
- Blog post “10 Tips & Tricks” →
10-tips-tricks. - Normalizing uploaded filenames to ASCII-safe forms.
- Generating anchor IDs for documentation headings.
Important limitations
- Transliteration is lossy by nature (ß→ss, ø→o) — keep originals as display titles.
- Uniqueness is your job: append IDs or dates to avoid collisions.
- Reserved URL characters and length limits still apply downstream.
Privacy
Local string processing. Titles stay in your browser.
